Postpartum depression affects roughly one in seven new mothers, and screening rates, while improving, remain inconsistent. The tools exist: the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale has been validated in multiple languages and across diverse populations. The barrier is not the absence of a good screening instrument. It is the absence of a workflow that makes screening consistent, results meaningful, and follow-up reliable.
