Informed consent is the ethical foundation of clinical medicine. It is also, in practice, frequently reduced to a signature on a form that the patient has not had time to read, does not fully understand, and signs because the clinical environment implicitly communicates that this is what is expected.

This is not genuine informed consent. It is documentation of consent, which is a different thing. Interactive informed consent tools built with Claude cannot solve the structural problems that make genuine consent difficult in busy clinical settings. But they can significantly close the gap between what patients are told and what they understand. This course covers how.
