A colleague told me last week that she uses Claude every day for clinical writing. Good. Then she mentioned that she types the same background paragraph about herself and her patients into every single chat. Every. Single. Time. I asked how long that took. She said about two minutes. I did not do the math out loud, but I was tempted.
AI has different levels (Which is you?)
Which should be you?
You use the free ChatGPT occasionally.
You use the free Claude occasionally.
You use paid ChatGPT with reasoning turned on.
You use paid Claude with Opus and extended thinking.
You use Claude with Projects, memory, and custom instructions.
You have your entire team on Claude Teams with shared Projects and workflows.
You have built custom clinical tools, automated pipelines, and AI-assisted publishing — and your AI works while you sleep.
It is time for us to level up with Skills. There is a better way. Several better ways, in fact. And understanding the difference between them is the single most leveraged thing a physician can do to stop wasting time with AI and start using it properly.
